We recently conducted research on Figma and believe the company is well-positioned to potentially cover the entire software development lifecycle, forming an integrated product suite akin to an operating system. This suite could connect the full workflow from idea → design → development. Even in an era where AI Agents may replace designers and developers, Figma’s ability to control the entire value chain positions it to further evolve and transform.
Current Product Portfolio
Beyond its flagship Design product, widely used by designers, Figma’s most important strategic branch is Dev Mode, aligned with its core value proposition: improving efficiency in application prototyping and design-to-development workflows.
Product Launch Timeline
December 2015: Beta launch with invite-only access, supporting basic vector design functionality primarily for UI design use cases
September 2016: Official launch with real-time collaboration features, establishing the foundation for cloud-based design tools
