SpaceX Deep Dive: Part 1 — From Falcon to Starship

FUNDA·March 30, 2026

Bull case hinges on May '26 Starship V3 test; success unlocks Starlink V3 and space compute flywheel.

SpaceX has established itself as the undisputed leader in global space infrastructure, built on deep vertical integration and the largest operational satellite constellation in history. With the closing of the xAI acquisition in February 2026, the company has completed its evolution into a four-pillar business at the capital structure level: Starlink (communications), launch services, Starshield (government and defense), and the newly added space computing segment (Orbital Data Center + xAI) — together forming a unified growth engine.

However, the $1.25 trillion–$1.5 trillion valuation thesis is currently at a critical inflection point for functional validation. While the capital architecture is in place, Starship V3 (Flight 12) — the physical prerequisite for both space computing and Starlink V3 satellite deployment — has likely been delayed to May 2026 due to technical issues during testing. This means that the $1.25 trillion valuation floor carries a significant technology execution premium, and its ultimate stability hinges on the May test flight’s ability to substantively validate upper-stage recovery and operational efficiency.
